COVID Testing Fiasco at PCC

Earlier today, PCC’s COVID testing lines for students and employees rivaled those of the Disneyland parking lot – but this was not the happiest place on earth.

LA County recently experienced a surge in COVID case numbers.  While the numbers have decreased, PCC LA County recently experienced a surge in COVID case numbers.  While the numbers have decreased, PCC clearly recognizes the current risks and dangers of in-person instruction, having recently mandated COVID testing for all employees and all students in classes held on the physical campus.

Yet, what is also clear, is the fact that PCC has not thought through the logistics of providing testing to students and employees.  Students and employees who chose to get tested today in an effort to be ready for their classes on Monday morning found themselves waiting as long as 2-½ hours.   Some deans told their faculty to come in at 6 AM to wait in line to test in time for a 9 AM class.  Imagine telling a student who takes 2 trains and a bus to get to PCC to be here at 6 AM.  Unfortunately, there are no fast passes.

Not to mention that the COVID testing information on their website is confusing and contradictory.

Yet on the same webpage, PCC contains location information that conflicts with not only the webpage.

Testing information on the map even contradicts other information on the very same campus map!
