PCCFA Negotiations Update – July 15, 2022

PCC Faculty,

Your Faculty Association Negotiations team has been hard at work this summer preparing for and participating in negotiations for the successor agreement to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Here is our update on the first three negotiations meetings:

June 9, 2022

  • District presented and FA reviewed and responded to Negotiations Ground Rules document and the district agreed to our changes to their proposal.
  • FA requested from District data related to the formula used to compute part-time faculty parity.
  • District presented proposal Article 10: Chairs with suggested changes related to evaluation and evaluation documents.

June 16, 2022

  • FA again requested data related to the formula used to compute part-time faculty parity
  • FA agreed to the District’s Chairs proposal
  • FA presented its proposal for PT Health Care to the District. The District asked clarity questions during presentation.
  • District proposed “Clean up” language for Article 11: Grievance Procedures. FA responded to the proposal with small changes to clean-up language and an assertion that we would be submitting an additional proposal at a later date regarding substance of this Article.

June 30, 2022

  • District presented its proposal for Athletic Coaches. FA included Athletic Coaches in negotiations to assist with this proposal.
  • FA presented District with Parental Leave proposal.
  • FA presented SERP proposal.

July 7, 2022

  • District presented counter-proposal to FA Parental Leave proposal. District’s counter-proposal would maintain status-quo and promised no improvement to current Parental Leave terms for faculty.
  • FA presented District with counter-proposal in response to District’s Athletic Coaches proposal.
  • District presented a proposal on changes to Article 5 (Working Conditions).  FA is currently soliciting input from potentially impacted faculty constituents to formulate a strong counter-proposal.
