No late DOCs will be accepted.

All candidates are entitled to have one (1) campaign flyer emailed out by the PCCFA to all its members.

Specifications
  • A Declaration of Candidacy (DOC) is a short one-sentence statement indicating a candidate’s intention to run for an open position on the PCCFA Board.

  • At the time a candidate turns in their DOC, they must also include their candidate statement (please see guidelines).
  • A candidate statement is a one-page (1) statement to all voting members that outlines said candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and the issues/matters that said candidate is interested in addressing should they be elected to the FA Board. 500 word limit.
  • B&W or in Color

  • Portrait or landscape

  • Dimensions no greater than 8.5 x 11 inches

  • JPG or PDF format

  • File size no greater than 1.5MB.

  • Submitted candidate flyers will be displayed on the PCCFA Instagram account.
DUTIES OF ALL OFFICERS

All officers are required to commit approximately eight to ten hours per week to fulfill PCCFA duties.  These include but are not limited to:

  • Mandatory attendance at all PCCFA Membership, Executive Board, Negotiations meetings, and the Representative Council.
  • Mandatory participation in Negotiations, Grievance, Newsletter, and/or College-wide committees (including, but not limited to, Calendar, Enrollment Management, Budget and Resource Allocation, Planning and Priorities, Managerial hiring, and Ad Hoc)
  • PCCFA officers are expected to attend (as often as possible) meetings for the PCC Board of Trustees, the Academic Senate, and/or Curriculum and Instruction.
  • PCCFA Officers are expected to communicate often with Divisions on faculty union matters, and to report to the Leadership Board on issues and concerns of faculty.
  • Because of busy academic schedules, PCCFA Officers are often required to meet on Fridays and occasionally Saturdays and throughout the Summer months. Officers are strongly encouraged to attend all conferences for the following organizations: California Community Colleges Independents (CCCI) and the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC).

RESPECTIVE DUTIES OF OPEN POSITIONS

PRESIDENT
  • President must be on an 11-month salary schedule each academic year.
  • Preside over all meetings of the PCC Faculty Association including General Membership, Executive Board, and Negotiations meetings.
  • Attend all meetings – FA Board Meetings, Monthly General Membership Meetings, Negotiations meetings, Representative Council, Part-Time meetings, as well as Emergency Meetings regarding specific issues.
  • Serve as official spokesperson of the Faculty Association.
  • Serve on Negotiations Team- requires preparation meetings, emergency meetings with the President of the college and/or District Negotiators (often times negotiations take place throughout intersession months.)
  • Oversee all grievances- schedule meetings with grieving party, meetings with District, and often meeting with legal counsel. Follow-up on progress of resolution.
  • Maintain continuous contact and dialogue with PCCFA Legal Representatives
  • Participate in recruitment of Board of Trustees Candidates and in Board of Trustees Elections (annual election season June-November of election year).
  • Communicate with the constituent groups on campus, all faculty divisions, all campus unions, the administration, and off-campus communities.
  • Familiarity with the governance documents of the Faculty Association.
  • Appoint all chairpersons and members of committees, and the bargaining team with the approval of the Executive Board.
  • Contribute monthly article(s) to the PCCFA Newsletter.
  • Suggest policies, plans and activities for the Faculty Association, and be held responsible for the progress and work of the Association.
PART-TIME VICE PRESIDENT (Position open to part-time FA members only.)
  • Attend all meetings:  FA Board Meetings, Monthly General Membership. Meetings, CEC Meetings, Part-Time faculty meetings, as well as Emergency Meetings regarding specific issues.
  • Respond to queries and concerns from part-time faculty.
  • Schedule and facilitate Part-Time Faculty Meetings; develop agenda, recruit speakers for said meeting.
  • Organize and schedule special conference or workshops by organizations representing part-time faculty rights and interests.
  • Serve on the Negotiations Team: requires preparation meetings, emergency meetings with the President of the college and/or District Negotiators (often times negotiations take place throughout summer months). Research and acquire data for contract negotiations. Develop part-time faculty-specific contract proposals
  • Maintain continuous communication with part-time faculty on Representative Council.
  • Contribute article(s) to the PCCFA Newsletter.   
  • Attend: CCCI & FACCC Conferences through-out the calendar year.
  • Organize and prepare delegations to elected representatives.
SECRETARY
  • Attend all meetings – FA Board Meetings, Monthly General Membership Meetings, Negotiations meetings, once a Semester Saturday Part-Time Conference at PCC as well as Emergency Meetings regarding specific issues.
  • Recruit new PCCFA members, organize and coordinate membership drives.
  • Serve on Negotiations Team- requires preparation meetings, emergency meetings with the President of the college and/or District Negotiators (often times negotiations take place throughout summer months).
  • Contribute monthly article(s) to the PCCFA Newsletter.
  • Record and format minutes for Executive Board meetings and distribution thereof to Executive Board for revision and approval.
DIRECTOR
  • Attend all meetings – Biweekly FA Board Meetings, Monthly General Membership Meetings, once a Semester Saturday Part-Time Conference at PCC as well as Emergency Meetings regarding specific issues
  • Participate on Negotiations Team- Meet (weekly or daily during Negotiations to advise and strategize contract negotiations with District)
  • Assist when necessary in the Grievance Process
  • Contribute to the PCCFA Newsletter
  • Coordinate with other FA Board members on addressing the particular needs, issues, and concerns of part-time faculty.
  • Participate in recruitment of Board of Trustees Candidates and in Board of Trustees Elections (annual election season June-November of election year)
