ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

The Pasadena City College (PCC) Faculty Association (PCCFA) is an independent faculty union and the sole bargaining unit representative for all Full Time and Part Time faculty educators at PCC. Our organization is committed to fair and equitable working conditions for all Full Time and Part Time faculty, and we advocate for these working conditions under contractual agreements negotiated with District representatives because we know that faculty working conditions are student learning conditions.

The PCCFA serves all faculty in the campus community in a variety of ways through

  • Democratically-elected Executive Board members
  • Formidable Lead Contract Negotiators
  • Professional Grievance officers
  • Passionate support staff

PCCFA Executive Board Members are available to discuss any problems that arise in the contract and in the performance of a faculty member’s official duties. Board members also monitor actions taken by the administration and the PCC Board of Trustees that affect the faculty and that impact the campus community, and we maintain committee presence on a variety of committees across campus to keep faculty informed of important information regarding their working conditions and the PCC community.

The PCCFA additionally supports the attendance of FA members to conferences and for participation in programs connected to faculty and teaching issues.

WE ARE A MEMBER OF THE CCCI CONSORTIUM OF INDEPENDENT UNIONS

The PCC Faculty Association (PCCFA) is an independent association affiliated with the California Community College Independents (CCCI), community college collective bargaining groups from across California. We are not affiliated with corporate collective bargaining organizations like the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), California Teachers Association (CTA), or the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) because we believe the best advocacy begins with local representation about our community’s unique, local needs.

CCCI offers two conferences per year at which PCCFA and other state-wide independent union community colleges share information, train in new strategies, and develop approaches to common issues and working condition concerns of faculty in California Community Colleges. The President of CCCI represents Independents on the California Community College Consultation Council in Sacramento and the Council of Faculty Organizations (COFO). Through CCCI lobbyists, the PCC Faculty Association has direct input into state-wide legislative advocacy and into policy-making processes of the system-wide Chancellor and Board of Governors of California Community Colleges.
