PCCFA 2026 Salary Reopener Update

PCCFA 2026 Salary Reopener Update

September 4, 2026

On August 26th, 2026, the PCCFA provided the District with our proposed salary adjustments. Our objective is to obtain wage increases that make PCC salaries more reliable, fair, and completive. Specific elements of the proposal include:

  • A 6.75% increase on all salary schedules.
    • Rationale: Wage increases over the last few years have matched the state-funded COLA. However, the COLA has lagged inflation for the LA Region, meaning PCC salaries have lost significant purchasing power. Based on our analysis we are proposing
  • An additional 3% Salary Increase to Part-Time Schedules
    • Rationale: Part-Time faculty are significantly underpaid relative to full-time faculty; this additional increase to the part-time salary schedules will move part-time salaries towards parity.
  • Permanent 2.5% rate increases above the Full-Time and Part-Time salary schedule at 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service.
    • Rationale: Mid- and Late-Career PCC Full-Time salaries are some of the lowest in our geographic region. Adding a longevity bonus will increase the competitiveness of faculty in these career stages.
  • Remove step 1 of the part-time salary schedules so that incoming part-time faculty start at a 2-5% higher rate.
    • Rationale: Early-Career Part-Time Faculty salaries are below the median for our geographic area. By removing step 1 on the salary schedule, new part-time faculty will have more competitive salaries, improving recruitment and retention.
