Dear Faculty,

As a result of the recent Public Employees Relations Board (PERB) decision, the Faculty Association and the District have reached an agreement, putting the Winter Intersession back on the 2023-2024 academic year calendar.  Yes, Winter Intersession 2024 is back at PCC!

The specific details of the calendar, including start and end dates and holidays, will be agreed upon between the Faculty Association and the District.  This is part one of a multifaceted settlement agreement/M.O.U. (Memorandum of Understanding).

The second part of this agreement relates to the establishment of a process for negotiating future calendars, which is by law, a mandatory subject of bargaining.  The Faculty Association and the District have signed an M.O.U., agreeing  to a procedure for negotiating future calendars; this procedure requires the District to negotiate calendar changes with the Faculty Association.  You can view both M.O.U.s here.

Still to be negotiated are the monetary considerations for faculty who lost wages due to the District’s unilateral action as well as the reimbursement of legal expenses incurred by the Faculty Association in filing this PERB legal action on behalf of faculty.

The Faculty Association will keep you apprised as we move through the process of negotiating the last part of our M.O.U. with the District – financial compensation for faculty and reimbursing the Faculty Association for legal expenses.   

Thank you for your patience throughout this lengthy case as the FA defended your union’s right to negotiate all changes to the calendar, but we hope you are pleased with the outcome.
