PCCFA Negotiations Update – August 11, 2022

Dear Faculty:

The FA Negotiations team would like to update you on the ongoing process of negotiating the successor agreement to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement:

July 22, 2022 Negotiations meeting with the District:  

  • The FA informed the District that we would be consulting various faculty groups to prepare our counter-proposal for Article 5 (Working Conditions).
  • The FA asked the District for an update on the Coaches proposal.  
    • The District asked for clarification regarding the proposal.  
    • Coaches Terry Stoddard and Mike Terrill were present to assist in answering their questions.   
  • The District informed us that they would need to meet with the new Board of Trustees and that their meeting with them could impact how quickly we can move forward with monetary proposals.
  • The FA rejected the District’s Article 6 (Sick Leaves and Health Examinations) proposal.  
  • The FA presented its counter-proposal for Article 6, which would provide Family Leave. 

July 29, 2022 Negotiations meeting with the District:  

  • The District rejected the FA’s counter-proposal for Article 6 (Sick Leaves and Health Examinations) a second time, including our proposed provision regarding an additional period for family leave. 
  • The District responded to our Article 17 counter-proposal (Reassigned Time).  
  • The FA reviewed and responded to the District’s Article 17 counter-proposal and is waiting for the District’s response.

August 11, 2022 Negotiations meeting with the District:  

  • The FA accepted the District’s proposal for Article 10 (Chairs).
  • The FA presented a counter to the District’s Article 14 proposal (Reassigned Time). 
  • The FA asked the District if they had a response to our Part-Time Health Care Proposal.  The District responded that they are waiting for guidance from the Chancellor’s Office.
  • The FA asked if the District had a response to our early retirement proposal.  The District stated that they met with the Board of Trustees, and the Board is not interested at this time.
  • The FA countered the District’s proposal for Article 5 (Working Conditions). 
  • The FA presented a proposal for Article 12 (Salary).  
  • The FA accepted the District’s proposed changes to Article 7 (Evaluation Procedures).   

The next negotiations meeting with the District is scheduled for August 25, 2022.
