Special Message from the PCC Faculty Association
March 16, 2020
To: All PCC Faculty
As we navigate our way through this crisis, the PCC Faculty Association wants to let you know that we are here advocating diligently on your behalf. Even though the College is “going remote,” work continues.
Here are a few examples of what the Faculty Association is doing on your behalf:
- Answering questions from Faculty
- Taking your questions to the District and getting answers
- Negotiating with the District regarding the impact of these substantial changes in interruptions to all our lives
- Continuing to negotiate and finalize a new contract
Last Thursday, March 12, Suzanne Anderson, Mary-Erin Crook, Mikage Kuroki, and Mark Whitworth met with Dr. Guigni, Vice President of Instruction, Stephanie Fleming, Dean Instructional Services, and Bob Blizinski, Vice President of Human Resources, to discuss emergency measures including relief for impacted individuals who and are working very hard to make the transition to remote education. We were advised that there is a possibility remote education will continue longer than the current proposed deadlines.
We will also meet this week to continue discussing the current situation and to negotiate items for the new contract which we hope can be finalized in the near future.
Please know that your Faculty Association will continue to answer your questions and get answers as quickly as possible. Our communication may be remote for the time being, but as always, our support of faculty continues, and we will make every attempt to assist you.
You can e-mail the Faculty Association office at facultyassociation@gmail.com. We want all of you to know that you are not alone, and we will fight hard to protect all faculty’s rights – which result in our students’ success.
