Number of Sabbaticals Offered
Sabbatical Leaves are subject to available funding. There may be Sabbatical Leaves approved for up to 4% of the regular contract full-time faculty in a unit.
Sabbatical Leave Term:
- Can be for one semester or for one year (Fall to Spring period only).
- Granted for professional study, and/or research, and/or approved travel. (Faculty may request an additional year as personal leave.)
Application Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years full-time employment, or 6 years since the last sabbatical.
- Have had a regular credential since employment or since last sabbatical leave granted.
- Satisfactory rating on most recent performance evaluation.
Sabbatical Approval Process:
- A 5-member Committee ranks and recommends to the college President those faculty whose applications are eligible for consideration.
After a Sabbatical:
- For sabbaticals under “Professional Study”, provide a transcript showing successful completion of all units attempted with a minimum grade of “C” within the semester following return.
- For Research/Travel, file a comprehensive report of the sabbatical activity within the semester following return.
