Really?! The College is now starting to offer PET insurance to faculty (ÒPet Protection PlanÓ). How about a Part-Time Faculty Protection Plan? The District continues to refuse to offer health insurance benefits to qualifying part-time faculty. For the historical record: Pet insurance was offered for purchase before part-time health insurance was offered.

Please Get Involved! Thank You to those of you who have signed the petition for part-time health insurance benefits that we can present to the District! LetÕs move the needle on this issueÑfinally! The Faculty Association is still engaged in contract negotiations with the District. Elsewhere in the Newsletter you can read about the negotiations. Here are some of the goals on matters of concern to part-time faculty:

• More movement toward part-timer pay parity;
• More clarity and fairness in the part-timer reappointment rights section of the contract (Article 18) and more favorable teaching scheduling priority policies;
• More office hours for our students;
• Part-time health benefits are a crucial need. We will continue to press for this for our colleagues. (See here below):
